Watch scathing ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit mocking Donald Trump and ICE
Saturday Night Live has landed another blow to Donald Trump, in a six-minute skit that saw James Austin Johnson take on the President’s likeness and run through his latest “legal-ish” political moves.
Trump was at a lectern in the White House addressing the country, and he touched upon everything that has been happening in the last few weeks, declaring fiendishly, “Midterms are cancelled!”
He can also be seen celebrating one of his favourite gifts, “someone else’s Nobel Prize,” after Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado gifted Trump her Nobel Peace Prize in a political move to curry favour with the president.
Marcello Hernandez appeared as Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump orders him to say a few words “to the people of Cuba,” the “next” military target. He begins in Spanish, to which Trump responds: “No, no. no not in here big guy. I didn’t like that at all. You’re driving in the wrong direction, honey.”
Security Secretary Kristi Noem, played by Ashley Padilla, also appears, sharing, “Obviously there’s been clashes on both sides in Minneapolis. And have we been perfect? Yes.” Noem has seen her likeness ironised before in South Park, in a parody she deemed “lazy”.
Noem then turned her attention to Minnesota, which has seen a huge surge in ICE, and was the site of Renee Nicole Good’s unprovoked death after she was shot by an ICE officer.
“And I know a lot of people looking at the situation in Minnesota are wondering the same thing: Can I join ICE? Well, let me ask you, is your neck wider than your head? Are you currently wearing a Punisher T-shirt? Have you ever punched a hole in the wall because your son took a dance class? If the answer is yes, then grab a gun, any gun, and settle up big boy.”
Trump then swaps out Noem for Colin Jost, who returned as Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, with the words, “We’ve heard from my Secretary of War on America, let’s go ahead and bring out our Secretary of War to the world.”
Hegseth’s skit touched on the US take-over of Venezuela in a macho-guy tirade. He yelled, “We dumped on Venezuela, next we’re going to sack-tap Iran. We’re going to put the Ayatollah in Iran in the cuck chair. I’m going to tell them […] ‘you don’t dare kill your protestors, that’s our job!'”
Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard hosted the show, with rapper A$AP Rocky serving as the musical guest. On January 24th, One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor will host the show, after which Geese will feature as the musical artist.
