Watch Meryl Streep in the first trailer for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’
The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, has been released, with fans gaining the first glimpse of Meryl Streep back in her iconic role as Miranda Priestly.
This marked the first full trailer for the film prior to its release in May, and follows the teaser released in November, which became the highest viewed comedy trailer on YouTube in the past 15 years.
The new full trailer is likely to set a similar precedent, having been viewed over 3.3 million times in the first 11 hours after it was uploaded to the site.
It sees many of the seismic cast returning to their former roles, with Streep reprising her part as the inimitable Priestly by failing to remember Anne Hathaway’s character of Andy Sachs, after she has now become the features editor of the fictional fashion magazine Runway.
Set to the iconic soundtrack of Madonna’s 1990 mega hit ‘Vogue’, snapshots of some of the greatest fashion landscapes in the world are seen, including New York and Milan, before returning to the magazine offices.
Original cast members Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also seen in the trailer, reprising their respective roles of Emily Charlton and Nigel Kipling. Much like Hathaway’s character, Priestly also fails to remember Blunt’s part as her other former assistant.
Little else is known regarding the plot for The Devil Wears Prada 2 at this stage, but it comes hotly anticipated, two decades on from the first film taking the comedy world by storm upon its release back in 2006.
Along with many of the cast from the first time around, director David Frankel returned to his role at the helm of the movie, with filming having taken place from June to October 2025. The creative team is rounded out by Aline Brosh McKenna, who also wrote the script of the first film.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit cinemas on May 1st, 2026.
