Watch Julia Roberts star in new trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s ‘After The Hunt’

Sony Pictures have released a new trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming movie, After The Hunt, which stars Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri.

The synopsis describes the upcoming movie as a “gripping psychological drama.” It follows a college professor, played by Roberts, who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student, played by The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, accuses another professor, played by Andrew Garfield, of “crossing the line.” Amidst this chaos, a dark secret from Roberts’ character comes to light.

The film reunites Guadagnino, who is also attached to an American Psycho remake, with the studio behind his previous efforts, ChallengersBones and All, and Suspiria. He most recently directed Queer with Daniel Craig, which landed the actor a Golden Globe nomination for ‘Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.’

The trailer begins with Edebiri, Garfield, and Roberts discussing what it means to be offended in modern-day society. It soon spirals into a pressure cooker characterised by a who-did-what plot that hinges on splintering ambiguities.

Guadagnino told W he enjoys having a packed calendar, as he is currently producing three movies: “I try to always multitask, to follow both the horizontal and vertical vectors of time,” he revealed.

The director added, “I’m directing a new film very soon, I’m designing houses and hotels, and my movie After the Hunt comes out in the fall. I prefer to be busy, but film is my first love. Always, always!”

The movie will have a limited rollout on October 10th, 2025, before expanding nationwide a week later on October 17th, 2025. This means it will open in cinemas on the same day as Ethan Hawke’s The Black Phone 2 and Lionsgate’s R-rated comedy Good Fortune, which stars Aziz Ansari, Seth Rogen, and Keanu Reeves.

The star-studded cast list is complete with Chloë Sevigny and Michael Stuhlbarg.
