Watch Glen Powell star in Hulu’s ‘Chad Powers’ trailer
Glen Powell steals the show, and the ball, in Hulu’s latest trailer for the upcoming comedy series, Chad Powers.
Powell takes on the role of Russ Holliday in the new Hulu series, an incredible quarterback who lost it all after making a vanity-driven mistake in a college football championship game, consequently losing the game for his team.
After family, friends, and the whole world tell him it’s time to give up, Powell can’t quit. He seeks redemption eight years later under prosthetics, heavy make-up, and a wig that transforms him into the new pseudonym, Chad Powers. His master plan sees the athlete compete as a walk-on football player for the low-ranked Southern Georgia football team in the American South
In the trailer, we see the idea of a disguise dawn upon him. “South Georgia is having open tryouts? I am going to do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,” Powell says at one point, staring at a billboard of the beloved Robin Williams character.
The show is produced by former NFL star quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning and is based on an original sketch that starred Eli in 2022. Two episodes will debut on Hulu on September 30th, after which episodes will stream on Tuesdays for the following four weeks.
Powell will star alongside Perry Mattfeld, Toby Huss, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Wynn Everett. Steve Zahn plays Jake Hudson, the head coach of the new team, who is sure to be fired until Powers joins.
In other Powell news, the Anyone But You star took himself out of the running to play James Bond. “I’m Texan. A Texan should not play James Bond,” the actor said. “My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond.” Instead, he insisted, “Get an authentic Brit for that job. That’s who belongs in that tuxedo.”
