Watch Dave Grohl and Jimmy Fallon make cameos in Nicola Coughlan’s ‘SNL UK’ monologue

Saturday Night Live UK is proving itself to be quite the A-list television show, after both Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl and late-night talk-show host Jimmy Fallon made cameos in Nicola Coughlan’s opening monologue.

Though Foo Fighters were billed as the musical guest for the show ahead of the release of their new album, Your Favorite Toy, fans didn’t have to wait too long to see Grohl appear on their screens.

During the Derry Girls actors’ monologue on April 25th, a smirking Fallon appeared. He encouraged Coughlan to cause havoc on set. “It’s an honor to be hosting. It sort of feels like I manifested it somehow. It’s almost like this place is like, magic,” she began.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Fallon appeared by her side, quipping, “That’s because it is! Don’t tell anyone, but … it’s live.”

After they continued a comedic back-and-forth, Fallon added, “It’s actually live. You can do whatever you want. You can go wherever you want. You’re the host. They don’t stop you!”

From there, Fallon asks the band to play some stirring music, and the pair decides to head backstage to see what mischief they can make. Upon coming across Grohl, Coughlan stops in her tracks: “Jimmy. Jimmy. It’s Dave Grohl.”

Helping out the star-struck presenter, Fallon suggested, “You should ask him to be best friends — because we’re live. He has to say yes.”

When Coughlan poses the question, Grohl gives a laid-back, “Sure, why not?” and the pair high-fives. “See you later, bestie!” Coughlan shouts, as the pair bid farewell with heart hands.

Only a few weeks after its debut, the television show continues to heat up. Last week, comedian Jack Whitehall took on hosting duties, while British singer Jorja Smith provided the music. Next week, The White Lotus’s Aimee Lou Wood and British breakthrough artist, MEEK, will provide musical entertainment.
