Ketchup Entertainment agree deal to buy ‘Coyote vs Acme’ movie rights

Warner Bros have struck a deal with Ketchup Entertainment to secure the rights for the previously shelved movie Coyote vs Acme.

The animation and live-action hybrid film, bringing the Looney Tunes character Wile E Coyote to the big screen, will reportedly hit cinemas in 2026 after a deal was reached for Ketchup Entertainment to buy over the film on March 31st, according to Deadline.

CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, Gareth West, said: “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote Vs Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

The film, starring Will Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell, will tell the unlikely story of the Coyote character who, alongside his lawyer (Forte) decides to sue the company Acme and its boss (Cena) for failing to provide create products to help him catch up with his nemesis, Roadrunner.

It is based both on the classic Looney Tunes character and the New Yorker article of the same name by Ian Frazier.

Despite having already been filmed and with the studio initially having high hopes, Coyote vs Acme has been put on the backburner by Warner Bros for over two years as part of a cost cutting exercise.

However, its release has now been revived as a deal has been reached, with director David Green and producers Chris DeFaria alongside DC Studios head James Gunn back on board.

A specific release date for Coyote vs Acme has not yet been confirmed.
