Victoria Police to investigate Ruby Rose’s allegation that Katy Perry sexually assaulted her
Victoria Police are set to investigate the allegations made about Katy Perry by Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose.
Rose recently claimed on social media that the pop singer sexually assaulted her in Melbourne, Australia, “almost two decades” ago.
The allegations were made on April 12th, when Rose responded to a post by Complex sharing Perry’s thoughts on Justin Bieber’s Coachella set on Threads.
Rose wrote: “Katy Perry sexual[ly] assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
Other comments on the platform saw Rose reveal that the alleged assault consisted of Perry noticing Rose “‘resting’ in my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
On April 14th, Rose explained that she had been asked by the police not to discuss the case further.
The Batman actor wrote, “As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved.”
As per ABC News, a Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed that detectives are investigating reports of “a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010.”
The spokesperson said, “Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.”
A spokesperson for Perry has denied Rose’s claims, stating, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.”
It continued, “Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
