Underscores cancels headline tour dates to open for Charli XCX in North America: “I hope you understand”
Rising hyperpop star Underscores has cancelled several upcoming headline tour dates to support Charli XCX across North America later this year.
Earlier today (June 8th), Charli XCX announced plans to bring her upcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film, across arenas in North America throughout September and October with Underscores as her special guest.
Only last month, Underscores confirmed plans for an extension of her Galleria tour, which included a leg in North America in September that will no longer go ahead.
The affected dates in September are Indianapolis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Milwaukee, St Louis, Lawrence, Denver and Salt Lake City.
However, the Los Angeles show, which was originally due to happen on September 30th, has now been rescheduled for October 20th.
Taking to X, Underscores shared with fans of her decision, “Because of this opportunity, though, we unfortunately have to cancel all of the September headline shows.”
She added, “Everyone will receive a full refund soon directly from their point of purchase. We were able to move the Los Angeles show to October 20.”
The singer-songwriter also told fans, “I pinky pinky promise I’ll be back soon — we’re already working on it. I hope U understand.”
Additionally, in an Instagram Stories post, Underscores insisted, “I promise we’ll return to every city we’ve had to cancel.”
Charli XCX’s new North American tour is set to kick off in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 11th. The run will continue for a further 11 dates, visiting places such as Brooklyn, Washington, and Los Angeles before wrapping up on October 23rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Meanwhile, her forthcoming record, which comes alongside a cover featuring Martin Scorsese, Marc Jacobs and John Cale, is set to arrive on July 24th, just in time for her headline set at Reading and Leeds in August.
