Alan McGee’s Creation Records is the subject of a new film which is in the works by the team behind Trainspotting.
The infamous record label, well known for being the brains being iconic releases from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Oasis, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Slowdive, Primal Scream and more, has recruited Danny Boyle to produce the film.
Furthermore, Irvine Welsh and Dean Cavanagh have been brought on as screenwriters for the project. Nick Moran known for his work on Telstar: The Story of Joe Meek and The Kid, will direct the film.
The film, given the working title Creation Stories, is based off Alan McGee’s memoir The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves and Running a Label.
“It’s like ‘Trainspotting does Creation’, if you can get into that concept,” McGee told NME. “There’s one scene where there are two Sony executives fucking each other up the arse and I’m there watching. I think it’s going to be quite funny.”
“My book is pretty much what happened. The actual film is Irvine’s fucking version of it. It’s got me and my dad walking into the sunset, but I haven’t fucking spoken to my dad for 30 years so it ain’t gonna be that realistic.”
“I’ve been lucky to work with both Danny and Nick over the years and to have the two of them together on this project, along with Ewen, feels like a lottery win.”
The film will begin production in May 2019.
