Watch the trailer for new Angus Cloud and Giancarlo Esposito horror ‘Abigail’
The official trailer for Abigail, a new horror movie starring Angus Cloud and Giancarlo Esposito, has arrived. The frightening flick will debut in cinemas on April 19th.
Helmed by directors Matt Bettinello-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Abigail follows the titular character, a 12-year-old girl, the daughter of a supernatural entity, who is abducted.
The group of criminals responsible for Abigail’s abduction appear to have bitten off more than they can chew when they decide to watch her overnight, demanding a $50million ransom from her father.
The movie is based on the classic 1936 movie Dracula’s Daughter. Universal has stated that Abigail will be “a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction or how to celebrate these characters”.
The cast includes Alisha Weir as Abigail, star of Matilda The Musical and the late actor Angus Cloud, known best for playing Fezco in HBO’s hit series Euphoria. Abigail marks the third movie to star Cloud posthumously following his tragic death in July 2023.
Sydney Sweeney, Cloud’s co-star in Euphoria, recently said: “I don’t think it’ll truly feel real or hit me until we’re filming and I won’t see Angus on set.”
Detailing further, she added: “When we are filming, all of our eyes are on each other and we’re there for each other, just in a different way than we’re able to when we’re all in very separate places in the world. It’s really interesting when someone passes away in our industry because they’re still there in so many forms.”
The new horror also stars Kathryn Newton, Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito, and Melissa Barrera, known for her role in the Scream franchise. Barrera enters familiar territory in the project, having worked with Bettinello-Olpin and Gillett and many of the same producers on the recent Scream movies.
