Topshelf Records says it “can no longer support” Ekko Astral and won’t release new album
Topshelf Records has confirmed it will no longer release punk band Ekko Estral’s second album, The Beltway Is Burning.
The record, which is the follow-up to their 2024 release Pink Balloons, was only announced by the group on February 11th, 2026, and was slated to arrive on April 22nd, 2026.
However, the record label has now shared on Instagram, “We can no longer support Ekko Astral and will not be releasing their album The Beltway Is Burning. This includes the end of in-house PR service from the label. Refunds for pre-orders will be issued within 5-10 business days.”
The band also said in a separate statement, “Ekko Astral will no longer be releasing TBIB on Topshelf Records. We will still be releasing The Beltway Is Burning independently. Additional information to come.”
Additionally, on her Instagram Stories, the band’s singer Jael Holzmann wrote on February 24th, “I will say at this juncture a lot of misinformation has been posted to the internet about what has transpired.”
The message continued, “I appreciate Topshelf Records for everything they gave to us in our time working together. I am grateful that in separation I will be able to finally be able to addiress this situation fulsomely and fully.”
Last week, it was reported by the Washington City Paper that Holzmann had filed a peace order petition on February 6th against former bandmate Miri Tyler, who announced her departure from the group in January.
Tyler has reportedly consented to the order, which prevents her from making any contact with Holzmann for the next six months and will expire on August 13th, 2026.
Upon announcing her exit from Ekko Astral, Tyler told her followers on Instagram, “Touring with this band has brought me to a worse place mentally than I have been in nearly 10 years.”
She added, “I’ve met many great people through our tours and shows, but I’ve also felt it strain my closest relationships and I’ve had to re-live traumas I never thought I would have to face again.”
