Ekko Astral singer files peace order petition against former bandmate
Jael Holzmann, singer of Washington DC-based punk band Ekko Astral, has filed a peace order petition against former bandmate Miri Tyler.
Tyler announced her departure from the group, who released their acclaimed debut album, Pink Balloons, in 2024, at the end of January 2026.
According to the Washington City Paper, Holzmann, with her lawyer, appeared at Montgomery County District Court in Maryland on February 11th to get a judge to approve the peace petition order.
The local report also claims that Tyler has consented to the order, which prevents her from making any contact with Holzmann for the next six months and will expire on August 13th, 2026.
The order was filed on February 6th, with Holzmann accusing Tyler of sending threats to her on social media in relation to a now-deleted TikTok. Tyler denies sending any threats.
A day before the petition was filed, Tyler addressed the TikTok, which saw her recite a poem that she wrote while serving an unrelated 12-day jail sentence last month, and clarified in an Instagram video, “I have not, do not, and will not ever have plans to cause bodily harm to any human being”.
Holzmann’s petition, in part, reportedly reads, “I am profoundly concerned there is no remedy to this situation absent a peace order from the court. I do not want to see Miri Tyler go to jail and do not think that is a remedy here. I need her to stay far, far away from me and leave me alone, so we can both move on and she can find the help she clearly needs.”
Upon announcing her exit from Ekko Astral, Tyler told her followers on Instagram, “Touring with this band has brought me to a worse place mentally than I have been in nearly 10 years.”
She added, “I’ve met many great people through our tours and shows, but I’ve also felt it strain my closest relationships and I’ve had to re-live traumas I never thought I would have to face again.”
Following Tyler’s departure, Ekko Astral have confirmed news of their second album, The Beltway Is Burning, which is set to arrive on April 22nd, 2026, through Topshelf Records.
