Tom Holland thinks audiences will be “blown away” by ‘The Odyssey’: “An absolute masterpiece”
Tom Holland has shared his belief that audiences will leave the cinema “blown away” by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
The highly-anticipated epic, set to arrive on July 17th, 2026, boasts an all-star cast with Matt Damon as Homer, alongside Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Mia Goth, as well as Holland.
As excitement continues to build with three months to go before it arrives on the big screen, Holland has shared his joy at being part of the project, while also praising the results of Nolan’s methods.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day actor told GQ, I can tell you that it is an absolute masterpiece, and I’m taking myself out of that equation. Chris Nolan’s movie is fantastic. It’s unlike anything that I’ve ever seen before.
After watching the movie for the first time, Holland said he was overwhelmed with the lingering question of “’How did you do that?’”, in reference to Nolan’s cinematography.
He added, There were certain sequences in the movie where I’m watching it and I’m just sort of thinking like, ‘How on earth has he done that? That has to be CG.”’And then after the movie asking him, ‘That was definitely CG, right?’ And he’s like, ‘No, no, no, that’s all in camera effects. Very planned, very prepared.'”
Holland then shared his belief that audiences will be “really, really blown away by the set pieces and sequences”, before stating that despite being part of the movie, he “was absolutely blown away by the scale, the scope, his ability to navigate such an intricate and heartfelt story in the middle of this insane kind of action movie”.
He went on to describe it as “one of my proudest achievements” of his career to date, and reiterated his confidence that cinema-goers will be “floored”.
Additionally, the English actor was full of praise for Damon, who provided “words of wisdom that he’s given me that I’ll keep to myself”, but also “really set the tone for everyone as to how we were going to collectively make this film”.
