Watch the first trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Tom Holland and Zendaya have returned in the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has been unveiled ahead of its July 31st cinematic release date.

The trailer opens with a downtrodden Holland in his Spider-Man suit, watching a video of his previous friend, Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon, and his prior love, MJ, played by Holland’s wife Zendaya, celebrating their first day at MIT together.

In the previous movie, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker was forced to undergo a final spell which made the world forget him, leaving him completely isolated and his old friends none the wiser to their memories and life together.

Parker grapples with this new sense of complete detachment in the clip, which then shows him fighting off various villains with a new sense of reckless abandon.

In the trailer, Holland’s character reads out a letter he had penned to his former friends, which shares, “You don’t remember me, but we used to know each other. Something bad was going to happen, and the only way to stop it was to make everyone forget about me.”

From there, fans see a cameo of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, who hits Spider-Man with his van and faces off against his sticky web.

In addition, Mark Ruffalo returns to star as the Hulk, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion also returns. Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink, Severance‘s Tramell Tillman, and The Bear’s Marvin Jones II, who plays the gangster Tombstone, also join the cast.

Furthermore, as well as his new anonymity, Parker has another issue to contend with. As the synopsis shares, “the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

This movie marks Holland’s fourth solo movie and seventh appearance in the Marvel universe.

The British actor is also set to appear in another adventure universe, slated for one of the lead roles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey, set for release on July 17th.
