Tom Felton confirmed to play Draco Malfoy in Broadway musical of ‘Harry Potter’
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the original Harry Potter movies, will reprise the famous role on Broadway.
Felton will begin his run in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on November 11th, 2025, and will portray Malfoy for a total of 19 weeks until it concludes on March 22nd, 2026. The production has been housed at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway for over seven years.
While Felton is now considerably older than he was when he originally portrayed Malfoy in the set of films, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set 19 years after the final movie drew to a conclusion. Malfoy is a father in the production.
Felton’s appearance marks the first time that a member of the original films has joined the Broadway production. Despite featuring in a number of stage productions in the UK, he has never previously acted on Broadway.
In a statement, Felton shared his joy at the casting: “Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.”
Felton continued: “It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”
Last week, HBO confirmed that Dominic McLaughlin will play the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley in the upcoming reboot. They will be following in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, respectively. At this stage, it has not been revealed who will be portraying Malfoy.
