Tom Cruise vows to continue acting until he’s in his 100s: “I will never stop”
Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has revealed that he never plans to retire from acting even when he’s in his 100s, vowing to “never stop”.
Cruise, who is currently 62, remains at the peak of his powers as a box office phenomenon. Recent successes include Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 and Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning in 2023. The latest Mission: Impossible adventure, Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning, is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on May 23rd.
While Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning might be the final time that Cruise is expected to play Ethan Hunt on the big screen, he has no plans to disappear from Hollywood.
Cruise previously expressed a desire to emulate the career of Harrison Ford, telling Australian publication The Sunday Morning Herald in 2023: “Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going; I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him…I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.”
Now, when reminded of these comments by The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, Cruise ambitiously said: “I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s.”
In addition to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Cruise has many other projects on the go, including Top Gun 3, and a sequel to his 1990 classic Days of Thunder. He’s also set to star in a mysterious new project by director Alejandro G Iñárritu.
Cruise previously said in February that he was having “the time of my life” working on the film with Iñárritu, which is set to be released on October 2nd, 2026. The cast also includes Emma D’Arcy, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set for release on May 23rd, 2025.
