Theo Lengyel of Mr. Bungle arrested for alleged murder

Theo Lengyel, the former alto saxophonist of Mr. Bungle, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend, Alice ‘Alyx’ Kamakaokalani Herrmann, in Capitola, California.

Lengyel was arrested by the Capitola Police Department on January 2nd, after being identified as a “person of interest” in the ongoing investigation.

Concerns about the victim’s well-being arose when her family, having not heard from her for a week, reported her missing on December 12th. This prompted the initiation of a missing-person investigation, leading to the discovery of her vehicle parked in front of Lengyel’s home.

A press release from the Capitola Police Department notes that Lengyel refused to cooperate with law enforcement, leading to his identification as a suspect after it was decided that foul play was involved.

Lengyel’s movements also raised suspicions, as he reportedly travelled from El Cerrito, California, to Portland, Oregon, during the days surrounding Herrmann’s disappearance.

In a significant development, human remains were located in a wooded area within Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, California. These remains are currently awaiting DNA processing.

According to a post on the Capitola Police Department’s Facebook page, Lengyel is in custody at the Santa Cruz County Jail.

Lengyel most famously performed as a member of Mr. Bungle from 1985 to 1996, contributing to their popular studio albums Mr. Bungle and Disco Volante. As a multi-instrumentalist, he specialised as a saxophonist and occasionally exhibited his talent on the clarinet and keyboards.
