Watch The Strokes perform ‘Dine N’ Dash’ for the first time at Red Rocks
The Strokes celebrated the release of their new album, Reality Awaits, with a huge show at Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado.
The legendary New York band are currently on the North American leg of their world tour in support of the album, and at Red Rocks, they performed their new track ‘Dine N’ Dash’ live for the very first time.
Surprisingly, despite the show taking place just hours before Reality Awaits was finally available for everybody to hear, they chose against leaning heavily into the record.
Rather than play a whole series of songs that fans have yet to get accustomed to, The Strokes only played ‘Dine N’ Dash’ and lead single ‘Going Shopping’ from the new release.
While they had previously played ‘Falling Out Of Love’ on numerous occasions, which was also released as a single, it hasn’t featured at any of their shows since June 26th in Philadelphia.
In Far Out’s review of Reality Awaits, ‘Dine N’ Dash’ was awarded as the stand-out track on the album in a positive three-and-a-half star assessment of the record.
The review noted, “For anyone concerned that Reality Awaits would serve as the death knell for The Strokes’ credibility or existence, the truth is that there are still flashes of virtually everything they’ve done before, plus new ideas that they’re keen to experiment with to keep things fresh. But hey, you’ve already made your mind up, haven’t you?”
Another track from Reality Awaits that is making headlines is ‘Lonely in the Future’, which sees Julian Casablancas take another shot at music critic Anthony Fantano.
On the song, the frontman sings, “I heard that twenty fucking years ago, I did Fantano, word for word, when I was a kid.”
The lyrics then add, “Stick to the technical, ’cause that’s great, but you would not recognise art in any age.”
In response to the public call-out, Fantano has taken to X to soothe things, writing, “Just for the record, before I gotta get into the thick of it, The Strokes are one of my fav bands of the 2000s and no comments, lyrics, drama, or otherwise will ever change that.”
