The Rolling Stones abandon plans for UK and Europe tour
The Rolling Stones have abandoned plans to tour the United Kingdom and Europe in 2025, according to a new report.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail claimed the Stones were preparing to announce four nights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London, which would have marked their first time performing at the state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium.
Additionally, it was claimed The Rolling Stones would be taking their Hackney Diamonds tour, in support of their chart-topping 2023 of the same name, to Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, and Paris.
An insider close to the band’s camp told the Daily Mail of the tour: “Mick, Keith, and Ronnie can’t wait to bring the show to UK audiences. They’ve been planning it for months and are itching to get back out on the road and do what they do best, which is perform.”
However, The Times has now stated that The Rolling Stones will no longer tour the UK and Europe in 2025 despite originally planning to do so.
According to the new report, “several multiple-date options were presented to the band’s members” who opted against the deals on the table due to “complications with venues and travel as well as existing commitments”.
Nevertheless, The Rolling Stones haven’t retired from touring and, instead, are reportedly eyeing up potential dates across the UK and Europe in 2026. Their extensive tour of North America last year is believed to have earned the group in excess of $235,000,000.
In 2023, Keith Richards told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the band would continue to hit the road for as long as “everybody’s still standing“.
The guitarist added: “Of course, it’s going to end, sometime. Everybody’s in good fettle – there’s no particular rush. We’re having great fun doing this, and this is what we do.”
Additionally, Mick Jagger previously touted the possibility of a hologram tour, stating, “You can have a posthumous business now, can’t you? You can have a posthumous tour. The technology has really moved on since the ABBA thing, which I was supposed to go to, but I missed it.”
