The one song Jennifer Lawrence could listen to for the rest of her life
Many of us hate being confronted with sweeping questions when it comes to our taste in film and music, with the rise of press junket journalists and talk shows leading to increasingly strange lines of questioning for people in the public eye.
For those in the spotlight, it’s hard to imagine that you ever become used to the intensity of fame and the downsides that come with it, with a normalised level of scrutiny over your private life as people ask your opinion on everything under the sun. We’re brainwashed into thinking that we care about every single detail of a celebrity’s morning routine or the inside of their fridge, when in reality, they must be exhausted by the fascination we have over incredibly mundane things.
This is no doubt something that Jennifer Lawrence has experienced over the years, with the actor being asked a range of frustratingly stupid questions that would make any non-famous person want to pull their hair out. However, this has led to some interesting insights into her own watching and listening habits, with Lawrence revealing the one song she could listen to forever.
Given the variety of her creative choices, it comes as no surprise that Lawrence has an eclectic taste in film and music herself. Since her breakout role in Winter’s Bone and fabled collaboration with David O’Russell, she has been tested in nearly every possible way, going from high-octane action projects like The Hunger Games in which she has to climb trees and shoot arrows, to emotionally demanding and extreme characters who scream and flip tables.
After starring in films like Mother! and her recent work with Lynne Ramsay in Die, My Love, the actor has once again demonstrated the depths of her talent, possessing an immense knowledge of the medium after working with so many of the industry’s greatest directors.
However, another part of the job that is perhaps equally as challenging is the intense media frenzy that surrounds all stars in the business, with Lawrence proving herself as one of the toughest and most endearing stars in the industry. Whether it be the brutal media treatment she experienced after starring in Hunger Games or her hilarious response to prying journalists after winning an Oscar, the actor has always known how to think on her feet when confronted with the worst of the media world. But perhaps this forced her to ponder a question many don’t want to think about after being asked about the only song she would listen to for the rest of her life.
When asked this, she shortly landed on an artist she would gladly listen to, then narrowed it down to a single song, replying, “Miranda Lambert, ‘Holding Onto You'”.
Lambert is one of the key country singers to hail from Texas, starting out in the early 2000s and becoming a crucial figure within the country scene. Lawrence’s favourite song appears on her 2014 studio album, Platinum, with a comforting tone that reveals a new layer of the actor’s creative identity and is just like everyone else in her love for sometimes cheesy tunes.
