The National cancel tour dates in Japan after coronavirus outbreak

The National have been forced to cancel their planned performances in Japan due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The band, who were due to perform in Tokyo on March 17th and 18th, will not be travelling to the country due to health concerns.

The ongoing epidemic of coronavirus disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei in China. As of 28 February 2020, more than 83,000 cases have been confirmed, including in all provinces of China and more than fifty other countries—including mainland Europe and South America.

“Much to our disappointment, in the interest of public safety our March 17+18 dates in Tokyo have been cancelled,” the band said in a statement posted to their social media accounts.

“Refunds will be available at the point of purchase from March 3 to March 31, 2020. We look forward to returning in the future and performing for our friends in Japan.”
