The Murder Capital cancel US and Canada tour due to “ongoing travel uncertainties”
The Murder Capital have cancelled their American and Canadian tour dates, due to financial and travel uncertainties.
The Irish five-piece released their third album Blindness in February and have since been touring the UK and Europe.
They were scheduled to tour the US and Canada in the Autumn of this year but have since released a statement clarifying that those shows will no longer be played. They took to their social media to say: “With heavy hearts, we have to cancel our tour this autumn due to unforeseen financial challenges and the ongoing travel uncertainties. This is a bitter pill to swallow. We hope you know how much we wanted to be out there playing these shows for ye all.”
The statement continued: “Thank you to all our fans that bought tickets, we appreciate your support and can’t wait to come back as soon as the time is right. Sending you all love in these strange times. All our summer shows are on, we look forward to seeing everyone out there.”
During their German leg of their European tour, The Murder Capital had a string of shows cancelled due to the fact that their set design included a Palestinian flag hung at the back of the stage. The band was lined up to play at Gretchen, a Berlin dance and nightclub before it was pulled that evening, and so they subsequently took to a local park to play a stripped back show.
The band faced the same cancellation during a following show in Cologne, where frontman James McGovern took to Instagram to share a statement. He said, “The Palestinian flag itself needs to be on our stage and needs to be as visible everywhere in the world as possible.”
The Murder Capital will play at Ebrovisión festival in Spain on September 6th, and that will be their last show until November, when they officially finish their tour in Troyes, France, on the 22nd.
