The Cure to reissue ‘Paris’ featuring two unreleased recordings
The Cure have announced a long-awaited reissue of their 1993 live album Paris. The new edition, released via Rhino Entertainment, is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original release.
Remastered by frontman Robert Smith alongside Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in London, the 30th anniversary edition of Paris will be released on vinyl, as well as CD. The double-album has not had an official vinyl release in the UK since its initial 1993 release.
Paris was one of two live albums released in the early 1990s, chronicling the band’s 1992 tour of their ninth studio album Wish. The counterpart to Paris, Show, also received a remastered reissue last year.
Recorded live over three nights at Le Zénith de Paris in October 1992, the album features many more cult favourites from the band’s back catalogue than Show. In addition to popular tracks like ‘Close to Me’ and ‘Lovesong’, the album also features songs such as ‘One Hundred Years’ from 1982’s seminal Pornography.
In addition to the 12 tracks included on the original release, this new reissue of Paris will also feature two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Shake Dog Shake’, from The Top, and ‘Hot Hot Hot!!!’, from Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. The tracklisting of the album has been altered in accordance with the new additions, which act as the opening and closing tracks of the double-album.
Despite Paris celebrating its 30th anniversary, last year saw the band conclude their exhaustive worldwide tour which was their most successful run yet.
The 30th anniversary edition of Paris is set to be released on March 22nd, and is available to pre-order now.
