‘The Bear’ premiere breaks Hulu records

The third season of The Bear hit Hulu last week, receiving a record-breaking reception from viewers.

Disney has reported that the new season of the show amassed 5.4 million views in just four days of streaming. This makes it the most successful premiere of any scripted series on the service.

Even when unscripted series are included in the count, The Bear still comes in third place for original season premiere performances on Hulu. The figure also marks a 24% growth from the show’s second season, which premiered in 2023.

The show has earned itself a loyal audience since it first hit Hulu in 2022, winning over viewers with its blend of comedy and drama. This has been reflected in award success, with the show taking home 10 Emmys, including ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’.

Season three of The Bear sees star Jeremy Allen White return to his lead role, for which he took home the ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series’ award at the Emmys last year. The new instalment continues to follow Carmy as he tries to balance his relationships and the demands of the restaurant.

Ayo Edebiri also returns as Sydney, after taking home a win for her supporting performance. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Lionel Boyce return as cousin Richie and Marcus respectively. Guest appearances in season three include John Cena and real-life chefs René Redzepi and Daniel Boulud.

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder has contributed to the soundtrack of the new season, providing a gentle take on the new wave classic ‘Save It For Later’ by The Beat.

Following his huge success in The Bear, White is set to take on a new challenge as The Boss. The actor will star in an upcoming biopic about Bruce Springsteen titled Deliver Me from Nowhere, which will focus on the making of his 1982 album, Nebraska.

Season three of The Bear is now streaming on Hulu.
