‘The Batman: Part 2’ has been delayed once again
Not for the first time, the long-awaited Matt Reeves movie The Batman: Part 2 is facing a fresh delay.
Reeves has shared both good and bad news for fans today. While there is yet another delay, he has also given viewers their first glimpse of the upcoming movie in the form of a teaser, which will make the extended wait somewhat less painful.
Initially, the plan for the film was a 2026 release, before it was once again reassessed and moved back to October 1st, 2027. Now, it’s been confirmed (for now) to arrive in cinemas on February 18th, 2028.
Last year, the film’s star Robert Pattinson acknowledged the delays and shared his frustration, saying, “I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.”
In December 2024, DC Studios chief James Gunn said of the first delay, “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script. Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write.”
Gunn added, “Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films.”
Subsequently, Reeves confirmed in June 2025 that he had finally finished a script for The Batman: Part 2, which began filming this summer.
While information remains thin on the ground in regards to a plot for the long-anticipated movie, Reeves has shared camera test footage from the upcoming film that gives viewers their first look at Pattinson in The Batman: Part 2, as well as revealing the official logo.
An all-star cast are set to join Pattinson in The Batman: Part 2, including Scarlett Johansson, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Charles Dance.
