Robert Pattinson frustrated with ‘The Batman’ sequel delays: “I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel”

The latest Batman film starring Robert Pattinson appears to be in disarray before filming has even begun. In a new interview with Hero magazine, the actor suggests he is uncertain about the film’s future.

In an interview with Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie, the Twilight actor was asked whether he was “going to do Batman again soon.” He replied bluntly, laughing: “I fucking hope so.”

He elaborated only slightly, stating, “I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.”

2022’s The Batman also starred Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Paul Dano as Riddler. The next Robert Pattinson starrer was initially set to come out in 2026. It has now been postponed to October 1st, 2027.

Much online discussion has centred around the delay after movie insider Jeff Sneider posted a picture of the Production Weekly report on the upcoming movie, naming all the people working behind the scenes. Matt Reeves, who directed the first movie and was set to fill the same seat for the second, was down as the writer, but not the director.

However, the DC CEO James Gunn addressed this in a short post on X. He responded to a fan who asked whether Reeves will still direct, saying, “Yes. Huh?”

The forthcoming film will bring back Pattinson as the DC superhero alongside Colin Farrell, who will reprise his role as Penguin.

Pattinson has a packed schedule this year. In addition to the recent release of Mickey 17, he is currently shooting the star-studded Christopher Nolan movie The Odyssey, starring in an upcoming A24 film opposite Zendaya called The Drama, and is reportedly lined up for Dune 3.
