Taylor Swift sets new streaming record ahead of ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ release
Taylor Swift has set yet another streaming record ahead of the release of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The album, which marks Swift’s 12th studio effort, has set the record for the most pre-saves on Spotify ever, with five million fans already saving it to their playlists.
This pre-save record was one already held by Swift, following the release of her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, last year – but she has now surpassed her own standards once again.
To accompany the release of The Life of a Showgirl, Swift has also created a cinematic event that fans can attend to gain a behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating the album, which will be released in cinemas over a limited run from October 3rd until October 5th.
Similarly, the film has also created unprecedented levels of demand in terms of pre-orders prior to its release, with box office ticket sales in the US already having exceeded $15million in the space of just 24 hours.
Despite the singer having racked up a powerful precedent for deluxe editions and extensive track listings over the course of her previous albums – not least The Tortured Poets Department, which was revealed as a double album as a surprise on its release day – Swift has insisted that no such extras will be included on The Life of a Showgirl.
To this end, she previously revealed the 12 tracks that will make up the album, opening with ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, and closing with its title song, which is set to feature a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, is set to be released on October 3rd, 2025.
