Taylor Swift donates to Los Angeles wildfire relief

Since January 7th, multiple wildfires have ravaged vast regions of Los Angeles, California. The fires have had a devastating effect on local residents, severely damaging the city’s infrastructure and ecosystem and putting incredible strain on local resources.

Thankfully, people from across California, the wider United States, and the rest of the world have come together to donate to charities and fundraisers helping with wildfire relief efforts. Among those people who have donated is the world-famous songwriter Taylor Swift.

Swift, who has owned multiple properties in Los Angeles including the expansive Samuel Goldwyn Estate in Beverly Hills, shared an Instagram Story on January 16th, calling the fires “heartbreaking” and highlighting a plethora of charities.

“The fires in California have devastated so many families, and it’s been heartbreaking to see these stories unfold,” the singer shared. “So much suffering, loss, and destruction. As so many people embark on some of the most challenging times of their lives, there are also many amazing organizations and groups banding together to help these communities rebuild.”

In the post, Swift also highlighted charities including MusiCares, Direct Relief, 211 LA, California Community Foundation Fund, LAUSD Education Foundation Emergency Relief Fund, Pasadena Educational Foundation Eaton Fire Response Fund, the LAFD Foundation, the L.A. Regional Food Bank, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

Although the post did not specify the amount that the billionaire musician donated to these causes, it has been confirmed to Rolling Stone that Swift made a “generous donation” to Direct Relief and Habitat for Humanity.

Swift is not the only musician to provide aid to wildfire relief efforts. A benefit concert, FireAid, has been announced with acts including Joni Mitchell, Billie Eilish, and Stevie Nicks among various others taking to the Inuit Dome on Janary 31st. Efforts to provide relief to the some 150,000 people who have been evacuated from their homes, and the families of the 25 confirmed casualties, are ongoing.
