Taylor Swift announces Disney+ docuseries, ‘The End of an Era’
Taylor Swift has announced that she is set to release a documentary series on Disney+ titled The End of an Era.
The global pop singer made the announcement on October 13th, revealing that a six-part series would be released on the streaming platform in December, depicting her world record-breaking Eras Tour which she undertook over the course of 2023 and 2024.
Alongside this, Swift also unveiled that a filmed concert version of the final show of The Eras Tour – titled Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show would be released at the same time, following on from the original filmed concert of the show which came out last year. This did not include the set from Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department, which was released during the tour and subsequently added into the show.
Announcing the news in a statement on her social media, Swift said: “It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”
It comes as Swift released her follow-up record to The Tortured Poets Department, called The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3rd. Unlike many of her previous albums, it has received a much more lukewarm response from critics so far, although it has still set a number of streaming records.
The first two episodes of The End of an Era, as well as Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show will be released on Disney+ on December 12th, with the subsequent four episodes of the documentary series dropping weekly thereafter.
