Wim Wenders

Wim Wenders is a German filmmaker, playwright, author and photographer whose visually poetic films have made him one of the most influential directors in European cinema. A leading figure of the New German Cinema movement, Wenders became internationally acclaimed through road movies and intimate dramas exploring identity, memory, travel and human connection. His celebrated body of work includes ‘Paris, Texas’, ‘Wings of Desire’, ‘Alice in the Cities’, ‘The American Friend’ and the Academy Award-nominated documentaries ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, ‘Pina’ and ‘Perfect Days’. Known for his striking visual style and long-running collaborations with cinematographer Robby Müller and musician Ry Cooder, Wenders has received numerous international honours and remains one of contemporary cinema’s most respected auteurs.
