The song Paul Weller wrote in tribute to a 1960s genius of British rock
Brilliant.

Syd Barrett was an English singer, songwriter, guitarist and artist best known as the founding member, original frontman and principal songwriter of Pink Floyd. A key figure in the British psychedelic movement of the 1960s, Barrett’s imaginative lyrics, experimental guitar playing and surreal songwriting shaped the band’s acclaimed debut album, ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’.
His increasingly erratic behaviour, widely associated with mental health issues and heavy LSD use, led to his departure from Pink Floyd in 1968. Barrett subsequently released two influential solo albums before withdrawing almost entirely from public life.
Despite his relatively brief recording career, he remains one of the most innovative and revered figures in psychedelic rock.
A song as important as it is bad.
Getting used to prog rock brilliance.
The end of his creative journey.
Or examples of cosmic fate, if you prefer.
