The one singer Bono called too wild to be his friend: “Recreational drug use that had become hard work”
Not fully in control of himself.

Michael Hutchence was an Australian singer, songwriter and actor best known as the charismatic frontman of rock band INXS. Renowned for his powerful voice, magnetic stage presence and blend of rock, new wave, funk and pop influences, Hutchence helped transform INXS into one of the world’s biggest bands during the 1980s and 1990s. The group achieved international success with albums including ‘Listen Like Thieves’, ‘Kick’, ‘X’ and ‘Welcome to Wherever You Are’, producing enduring hits such as ‘Need You Tonight’, ‘Never Tear Us Apart’, ‘New Sensation’ and ‘Mystify’. Widely regarded as one of rock’s greatest frontmen, Hutchence’s career was cut tragically short when he died in 1997 at the age of 37.
Not fully in control of himself.
Ironically, a lot of fans had no idea that he was an Aussie himself.
“He was so bold and mischievous…”
“Michael was really out of himself.”
“All he fucking does is go out with models!”
A simply spellbinding song.
Hutchence crafted a fusion of rock, funk, and pop for INXS.
