Marc Bolan was an English musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist best known as the founder, frontman and principal songwriter of T Rex. A pioneering figure of the glam rock movement, Bolan rose to fame in the early 1970s with a string of chart-topping singles that combined infectious hooks, electric guitar riffs and flamboyant style. After beginning his career with the psychedelic folk duo Tyrannosaurus Rex, he transformed the group into T Rex and achieved massive commercial success with songs including ‘Get It On’, ‘Telegram Sam’ and ‘Children of the Revolution’. His charisma, songwriting and fashion sense helped define glam rock and influenced generations of artists, despite his life being cut short in a car accident at the age of 29.
