The 2008 dream Christopher Nolan waited 17 years to realise: “You could use it in a feature”
The moment cinema changed.

‘Joker’ is a 2019 psychological thriller directed by Todd Phillips and based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, the film presents an original, standalone origin story for Arthur Fleck, a struggling comedian whose descent into mental illness, isolation and violence transforms him into the infamous Joker. Set in a decaying version of Gotham City during the early 1980s, the film explores themes of social inequality, trauma and societal neglect.
Upon release, ‘Joker’ became a critical and commercial phenomenon, grossing more than $1 billion worldwide and becoming the first R-rated film to reach that milestone. Phoenix’s performance earned widespread acclaim, including the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’.
