How success spoiled the Grateful Dead, according to Bob Weir
Who’s got the time?

Jerry Garcia was an American musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist best known as the co-founder and creative leader of the Grateful Dead. Revered for his expressive guitar playing and improvisational style, Garcia became one of the defining figures of the American counterculture during the 1960s and 1970s.
With the Grateful Dead, he helped pioneer a unique blend of rock, folk, blues, country, jazz and psychedelic music that inspired a devoted global following. Outside the band, Garcia pursued numerous side projects, collaborating with artists across multiple genres while establishing himself as one of rock’s most respected musicians. Following his death in 1995, his influence has endured through the Grateful Dead’s legacy and his reputation as one of the greatest guitarists in popular music.

The top of the musical heap.
“He just pulled the notes out of his head…”
