Blossoms announce new album ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’ and huge arena tour
‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’ set for release on October 2nd.
Indie pop is a genre of alternative music characterised by melodic songwriting, jangly guitars, understated production and a DIY ethos rooted in independent record labels.
Emerging from the British post-punk and independent music scenes of the late 1970s and 1980s, indie pop developed through artists who favoured intimacy, wit and emotional sincerity over mainstream commercial trends. Pioneering acts such as Orange Juice, the Pastels, the Smiths and the Field Mice laid the foundations for the genre, which later expanded through artists including Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura, the Shins, Alvvays and Japanese Breakfast.
Today, indie pop continues to evolve by incorporating influences from electronic music, dream pop, folk and synth-pop, remaining one of the defining sounds of contemporary independent music.
