“Divine music”: the band Pete Townshend hailed as 150 times better than Def Leppard
“It’s as simple as that.”

Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, in 1977. Emerging as one of the leading acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the band evolved from hard rock into a polished arena rock sound that brought them global success during the 1980s.
Led by vocalist Joe Elliott, Def Leppard achieved worldwide fame with multi-platinum albums including ‘Pyromania’, ‘Hysteria’ and ‘Adrenalize’, producing enduring hits such as ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me’, ‘Photograph’ and ‘Love Bites’. The band’s career has been marked by remarkable resilience, most notably drummer Rick Allen’s return to performing after losing his left arm in a car accident in 1984.
With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, Def Leppard remain one of the most successful rock bands of all time.
