Alice In Chains

Alice in Chains are an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney.

Emerging as one of the defining bands of the grunge movement alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, they developed a distinctive sound that blended heavy metal, alternative rock, sludge metal and acoustic influences. Fronted by Layne Staley until his death in 2002, the band achieved critical and commercial success with landmark albums including ‘Facelift’, ‘Dirt’, ‘Alice in Chains’ and ‘Jar of Flies’. After reforming in 2005 with vocalist William DuVall, Alice in Chains released acclaimed albums including ‘Black Gives Way to Blue’, ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ and ‘Rainier Fog’. Their haunting harmonised vocals and emotionally intense songwriting have made them one of the most influential rock bands of their generation.
