System of a Down guitarist reignites Oasis feud with fresh jab
System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian has taken a fresh jab at Oasis during his band’s ongoing North American tour.
Notably, both bands have been playing the same huge venues in North America during the past two weeks, such as the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the Rogers Stadium in Toronto, and Soldier Field in Chicago.
System of a Down performed at Soldier Field on August 31st and September 1st, whereas Oasis played at the same stadium on August 28th.
Upon arriving in Chicago, Malakian took to Instagram to share a photo of himself outside of Soldier Field. However, the sign at the venue was digitally altered to read, “Fuck Oasis”. He captioned the post, “Wow!!! I kept ending up at the right place at the right time in Chicago!!!!!”
Notably, the two bands do share a history that goes back decades, as System of a Down found themselves on the receiving end of a vicious insult from Noel Gallagher, which many artists wear as a badge of honour.
Noel once remarked to radio station KROQ in the 2000s: “Do you ever look at the sky and think, I’m glad I’m alive? After I heard System of a Down, I thought, I’m actually alive to hear the shittiest band of all time.”
His scathing attack continued, “Which is quite something when you think about it. Of all the bands that have gone before and all the bands that’ll be in the future, I was around when the worst was around.”
System of a Down’s tour is set to conclude on September 5th at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, meanwhile, Oasis are set to wrap up their North American dates with two shows at the Rose Bowl in California this weekend.
In a glowing review of Oasis’ recent MetLife Stadium show, Far Out wrote, “The true power of the band is hearing them play live, and when they descended upon New Jersey on August 31st, 2025, this wasn’t the crowd that only came to listen to ‘Wonderwall’ or ‘Champagne Supernova’. No, this felt like a family reunion of rock and roll fans that had met each other. Not bonded by blood nor background, but the minute that songs like ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ started, you would have sworn that every single person in that stadium had known each other for years.”
