Super Furry Animals add more dates to reunion tour and share long-lost track
Super Furry Animals have extended their reunion tour, and also shared the long-lost track, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Flu’.
Earlier this week, the Welsh indie icons announced they would be embarking on their first tour in a decade next year, which will see them play shows across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Additionally, they have revealed plans to release a 20th anniversary reissue of their 2005 album, Love Kraft, which will arrive on October 24th, 2025, including the previously unheard ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Flu’ that is out now.
The track is sung by drummer Daf Ieuan, who says of the creation, “It’s a song about one of the very worst hangovers I have ever had. We were on our way to Tokyo, and I took in some refreshments before taking off and topped up during the flight.”
Ieuan continued, “Arriving in a totally different time zone and being unable to sleep, we took off into the night when we got there. The perfect conditions for absolute dehydration. Which tour was it? Well, your guess is as good as mine.”
The final time Super Furry Animals took to the stage was for a heroic hometown show at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff in 2016, which was the perfect place to end that chapter of their story. They will poetically return to the same venue in May.
The tour will begin at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin with stops at Glasgow’s Barrowlands, Venue Cymru in Llandudno, the Apollo in Manchester, and Brixton Academy in London, as well as Cardiff. Due to demand, additional shows have been added in London, Llandudno and Glasgow.
During an interview in 2023 with Far Out, to celebrate the anniversary of Phantom Power, the band’s Gruff Rhys was coy about the band’s chances of reuniting, sharing, “We’ve spent so much time together making music, and in that sense, it feels the most natural thing in the world. We all know each other musically and personally extremely well. It’s not something that’s far-fetched, but time flies, especially when you have kids and are doing stuff. It all feels extremely recent.”
Now, two years later, they are preparing to hit the road again. See the full tour dates and listen to ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Flu’ below.
