State Fayre announce Alanis Morisette as replacement headliner after Neil Young cancels UK tour

Alanis Morissette has been confirmed as a replacement headliner for Neil Young at the inaugural State Fayre festival.

The brand-new, three-day camping event is set to be held on the grounds of Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex, formerly the home of V Festival, between June 26th and June 28th, 2026.

However, last week, it was thrown into jeopardy when Neil Young confirmed that his UK and Europe tour, scheduled for the summer, including a headline date at State Fayre on June 27th, has been cancelled.

In a message, he explained to fans, “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well.”

Now, State Fayre have recruited Alanis Morissette as their Saturday headliner. Skunk Anansie have also been added to the bill as the sub-headliner before Morissette’s performance.

Elvis Costello and The Imposters, who had been scheduled to support Young around Europe, have now been moved from the Main Stage to the Big Top to make way for Skunk Anansie.

State Fayre will also be headlined by Kings of Leon and The Lumineers. Elsewhere on the bill are The Black Crowes, Orville Peck, Razorlight, Counting Crows, Amble, Kingfishr, Dylan Gossett, Sierra Ferrell, Max McNown, KT Tunstall, The Coral, Stephen Wilson Jr and Jack Savoretti.

Morissette will be touring the UK next summer with Skunk Anansie with a run of outdoor shows, including Blenheim Palace, Crystal Palace Park in London, Exeter, and also a huge date at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, which will also feature Wet Leg on the bill.

Upon announcing State Fayre, organisers Anna-Sophie Mertens and Alex Simmonds of Live Nation, said of the new event: “We are thrilled to unveil a brand new camping festival that builds on the phenomenal UK growth in Americana, rock and country over the past few years.”

They continued, “We’re so excited to present this music in an immersive outdoor setting complete with the authentic food, activities and big open skies of an American state fair.”
