Neil Young cancels UK and Europe tour: “I’m sorry to let you down”
Neil Young has announced plans to cancel his upcoming summer tour in Europe and the UK with his band The Chrome Hearts.
Young was originally intended to kick off the tour starting in June 2026 at the Eden Sessions in Cornwall, which would go across the rest of Europe throughout the summer. Elvis Costello and the Imposters were also intended to serve as his backing group.
Now in a post on the Neil Young Archives, Young has confirmed that he will be taking time off, saying, “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time.”
He added, “I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well.”
The intended tour also promised major tour stops such as the Blenheim Palace Festival. The folk-rock icon was going to be headlining the new State Fayre festival in Essex alongside The Lumineers and Kings of Leon.
Young did previously perform extensively in Europe throughout 2025 with his band The Chrome Hearts, including headline appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Hyde Park in England.
Formed in late 2024, Young’s latest rock and roll outing featured some of the biggest players in the world of Americana. Their debut album, Talkin’ to the Trees, arrived in 2025.
Aside from taking a break from the road, Young has also been proactive regarding the use of his music. Amid his ongoing distaste for US President Donald Trump, Young had motioned that all of his music be removed from Amazon except for in Greenland, which Trump has wanted to take control of.
He has also pledged to stop buying any Apple or Verizon products thanks to Trump’s connections with both companies, saying that he wants no part of playing into the President’s “facist regime”.
