Star-studded inaugural Future Ruins Festival cancelled
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ have been forced to cancel their inaugural Future Ruins festival due to “logistical challenges and complications”.
The Nine Inch Nails-backed festival was set to celebrate several of the world’s most influential film and television composers on Novermber 8th. It was set to take place across three stages at the Equestrian Center in Los Angeles.
However, as of October 3rd, the festival was no longer going ahead. An official statement posted on social media began, “Unfortunately, Future Ruins will not move forward this year. The reality is, due to a number of logistical challenges and complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be.”
They continued earnestly, “Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-think and re-evaluate. Meanwhile, we are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate all the interest and support. Refunds will be automatically issued and ticket holders will receive an email with more information.”
Outside of their work on Nine Inch Nails, Ross and Reznor have a rich history writing scores for film. Most recently, Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers saw them shortlisted for both Best Original Score and Original Song at the 2025 Academy Awards.
Huge names billed for the festival include Questlove, who was due to present the score works of Curtis Mayfield. Additionally, Danny Elfman, prolific composer behind works like Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, was set to appear alongside Cristobal Tapia de Veer, composer for The White Lotus and Black Mirror.
Elsewhere, Nine Inch Nails recently announced a 20 arena dates that will make up a 2026 North American Arena tour. The group will bring Boys Noize along to fill the coveted support slot, following on from their collaborative headline slot at Coachella in April. The two groups will join as one, suitably named Nine Inch Noize, for a headline extravaganza.
