Watch Spinal Tap perform ‘Big Bottom’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Spinal Tap have made their first appearance on television in more than 15 years with their recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The spoof band, made up of David St Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls, performed the track ‘Big Bottom’ ahead of the release of their latest comeback movie, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

Alongside their performance, the ageing rockers appeared as their characters to be interviewed by Kimmel on the show, noting they were “forced together by a contract that [we] had to honour, calling for one final performance.”

The fictional rock band, played by comedians Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer, have reunited for one final outing, four decades on from when they first hit the screen as “one of England’s loudest bands” in the 1984 mockumentary Spinal Tap.

Anticipation has been rife for the long-awaited sequel as it is finally set to hit cinemas after 40 years, with the trailer for the movie showing the trials and tribulations of the band as they reunite for a last epic concert.

In the midst of all the chaos and hilarity, the band have also been joined by a range of star studded cameo guest appearances, including Paul McCartney, who offers them advice before hitting the stage, and Elton John, who joins them at their concert to perform a blazing rendition of their huge hit ‘Stonehenge’.

However, despite the celebration of their final gig, the event is also fraught with tensions, as the synopsis for the movie asks, “Will this concert be their triumphant return, or just another Stonehenge-sized catastrophe?”

Spinal Tap: The End Continues will be released in cinemas on September 12th.
