Sparks send a festive message with ‘Please Don’t Fuck Up My World’

Pop pioneers Sparks have shared a brand new song for the festive period, cheerfully named ‘Please Don’t Fuck Up My World’. Listen below.

Brothers Ron and Russell Mael who make up Sparks have returned with a rather pertinent message for the year’s end. A message full of seasonal hope backed by a piano and an orchestra for a perfect refrain from the end of year gloom.

“Please don’t fuck up my world / I’d have nothing to live for / Please don’t fuck up my world / I need something to live for,” runs one of the more obvious lines.

After an orchestral break, the song allows a children’s choir to perform the song’s chorus, before suggesting that their generation will be far worse off.

Reading through the environmental worries that face us, and the children more prominently, Mael makes their point perfectly clear as he and the children duet the line “So much now needs addressing, So much now is depressing.”
