Soundside Music Festival cancelled due to “cirumstances beyond our control”

Soundside Music Festival has announced that its upcoming event in September has been fully cancelled due to “circumstances beyond our control”.

The Connecticut event was set to occur in Seaside Park on September 27th to 28th. Headliners included The Killers, Weezer, Hozier and Vampire Weekend. Across the two-day festival, performances from Japanese Breakfast, the Backseat Lovers, Djo, The Last Dinner Party, Remi Wolf, and more have now been cancelled.

The announcement was made via way of a simple message on their website. It read, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled.”

It continued, “Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank’s processing time.” The notice does have a “learn more” button beneath, but any extra information goes into refund specifics only.

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim previously praised the event, stating that the Soundside Music Festival is unlike any other event the city has ever had. He said that the festival has brought the city $2million in direct revenue over the past years. He has yet to comment on the new cancellation.

Soundside is a relatively new festival. It was launched in 2022 as Sound on Sound before rebranding last year as Soundside Music Festival. In its first year, the festival featured Stevie Nicks, the Lumineers, Dave Matthews, and Tim Reynolds as headliners.

Last year, a scandal hit the festival. Foo Fighters were scheduled to headline the event alongside Noah Kahan, but dropped out just a couple of weeks after frontman Dave Grohl revealed that he had recently become the father of a child outside of his marriage. Jack White and Greta Van Fleet inevitably replaced Foo Fighters.
