Snail Mail announces first album in five years, ‘Ricochet’

Snail Mail has announced her first new music in five years, Ricochet.

Ricochet is set to be released at the end of March as the third album from Snail Mail, the musical project from American indie rock singer Lindsay Jordan.

It follows the release of her previous studio album, Valentine, in November 2021, which scored inside the top 40 of the UK Album chart.

The press release for the new album explains that it takes on a darker feel than the previous work, which has been released under Snail Mail, with a “deeper fixation: time, mortality, and the quiet terror of watching the things you love slip away.”

Of the record’s 11 tracks, Jordan has unveiled the lead single, ‘Dead End’, which reflects on growing up in suburban life and longing to break free.

Speaking about the themes of the album and how this enlightened her process as a whole, Jordan explained: “I’ve never done this before, but I wrote all of the instrumentals and vocal melodies on the piano or guitar, and then I filled in the lyrics all at once over a year.”

In turn, reflecting on the music video for ‘Dead End’, she added: “We shot the video for ‘Dead End’ in random places all around rural North Carolina between the hours of 5pm and 4am on one of the coldest nights of my life. The goal was to be inconspicuous with the fireworks, but someone called the cops on us.”

Snail Mail is set to return to London with a show at the Electric Ballroom in London on June 25th, before which she will also kick off a major tour in North America in the spring.

It kicks off on April 10th at the Turner Hall in Milwaukee and will wrap up on May 8th at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington. Tickets for all of Snail Mail’s upcoming shows will go on sale on January 23rd at 10am local time.

Snail Mail’s new album, Ricochet, will be released on March 27th, 2026.
