Slipknot’s Jay Weinberg named best heavy metal drummer in the world
Slipknot’s own percussion maestro Jay Weinberg has been named the best heavy metal drummer in the world by a new music poll by Music Radar.
The website, an area of the web reserved for music makers, conducted a poll to find out who among the plethora of percussionist was the best heavy metal drummer around. Weinberg beat out some handsome competition too.
Other names in the poll included Korn’s Ray Luzier, Lamb og God’s Art Cruz, Slayer’s Paul Bostaph, Machine Head’s Chris Kontos and Amon Amarth’s Jocke Wallgreen. But Weinberg beat them all with twice as many votes as all the other entrants combined.
The drummer took to Twitter to offer a few words on the accolade: “It’s an honor to receive the title of ‘Best Metal Drummer’ in @musicradar’s 2019 Best In Drums poll. Thanks to everyone who voted. I sincerely appreciate your support and interest.”
Shout out to all the other incredible nominees. I’m endlessly inspired by this enormous community of drummers, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to experience their contributions to music.

He concluded: “The best gratitude I can show is by giving everything I’ve got in every recording and every performance. Here’s to a great 2019 and exciting 2020! See you out there.”
