Slash provides promising update on new Guns N’ Roses album

Slash has confirmed that a new Guns N’ Roses album is on the way.

Guns N’ Roses have not released a studio album since Chinese Democracy in 2008. However, over recent years, they have publically shared their plans to make another record, and Slash has now confirmed it is still on the agenda.

During a new interview with Guitar World, Slash promisingly shared, “There’s so much material at this point — it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and fucking get into it.’

However, the rock legend doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, adding, “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”

Slash also illuminatingly provided a glimpse into how Guns N’ Roses work, sharing, “It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it’s off and running.”

While he’s confident that a new Guns N’ Roses record will materialise, he’s not yet ready to say when it’ll arrive, noting, “So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”

In August 2023, Guns N’ Roses released the single ‘Perhaps‘, which marked their first new track since Slash returned to the fold in 2016. They later also shared ‘The General’. However, both songs originated from their sessions for Chinese Democracy rather than being entirely new creations.

This summer, Guns N’ Roses completed a successful summer tour of Europe that included shows in Barcelona, Florence, Düsseldorf, Munich, Germany, Aarhus, Warsaw, Budapest, Belgrade, Sufia, Vienna, Stockholm and Luxembourg City. They also headlined Wembley Stadium and Villa Park in the UK.
