Sick Of It All frontman Lou Koller dead age 59
Sick Of It All frontman Lou Koller has died at the age of 59 following a two-year battle with adenocarcinoma cancer.
The tragic news was shared by the band on July 24th, who wrote, “It’s with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller.”
Their heartfelt statement added, “The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming,” also noting that this year would’ve marked the band’s 40th anniversary together.
They then pointed towards Koller’s “camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm” that remained “steadfast throughout the years.”
Koller formed the band with his brother and guitarist Pete and drummer Armand Majidi in 1986. The group released its debut, Blood, Sweat and No Tears, in 1989, and fast became one of the most well-known hardcore bands.
Their last album, Wake the Sleeping Dragon!, in 2018, and they have toured the project religiously since then.
The band has been dealing with Koller’s unfortunate health issue for two years, after a doctor found a tumour in his oesophagus in 2024.
Subsequently, the band was forced to cancel a tour; as a result of the sad news, an official GoFundMe garnered over $200,000 to support his medical expenses.
Though Koller was cancer-free in May 2025, the following September he revealed that the disease had returned.
The band’s statement added, “We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone’s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.”
It concluded graciously, “His battle is over now and he can finally rest. Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.”
